[WLUG] Sudo Problems with Ubuntu on HyperV

Hi guys,
My Windows friends talked me into installing Ubuntu 13.10 on a Windows
Hyper-V server.  So I did, twice, and both times I lost the sudo ability to
make changes on the primary user account.  It failed last time after I
entered 'sudo gedit /etc/apache2/sites-available/newsite.org'.  The thing
of it is that Hyper-V boots so fast that I can't recovery mode to fix
/etc/sudoers.

Does anyone have a guess why this might be happening?
