I started up with LIVE 10.04 disk, looked at drive contents and<br>
partitions. All were appropriate except that there was no label for<br>
root partition.<br>
I named it 'root' and restarted the 12.04 installation. No different.<br>
Apparently I was wrong about the video driver being the problem. But<br>
12.04 Live would not start up until I removed the OS X hard drive.<br>
The G5 had been dual booting between Ubuntu and OS X using separate drives.<br>
Ideas Please<br>
