Hello Adam

I am looking in to getting directions on how to check the download's"md5sum".  The instructions listed at the ubuntu web site list codes when tried I get no such code error messages.

multiple iso at http://sourceforge.net/projects/multisystem/   How will this help?  Are my problems an indication of incorect iso's.  Turth is I will have to learn what an iso is.

The last 2 or 3 times I did an install it was with a cd or dvd disk.  I had no problem.  This time I will learn a lot more.

i've had issues creating an installable live usb with unetbootin, i liked using multisystem:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/multisystem/

in that one, you can place multiple .iso's on the flash drive and you can choose from which one to boot. and you can make them persistent.

to the issue at hand, have you run a md5sum of the .iso you downloaded? maybe there was a "blip"

I had so much trouble with microsoft on the HP lap top and the Dell came with Ubuntu.
