Some things I didn't get to talk about last night.

WARNING: Entering Developer Mode wipes your internal storage. Check
Files first!

Advantages

Crouton uses the Chrome OS kernel so no driver problems and everything
else: services...
Small footprint
It’s fast considering the usual Chrome processors
Everything has been optimized for Chrome OS
You can install it on USB drives or SD cards, or you can re-partition
your SSD
It runs in a Chrome tab
It easy and fast to switch between Crouton and Chrome OS

Disadvantages

Crouton is a bit clumsy to startup
It’s a script so you’ve got to use a terminal; the Command Line
    sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
Chrome OS updates sometimes disable Crouton, but it easy to fix
It eats a couple of Gb of storage more as you add more packages to
Crouton
Crouton options are 12.04 LTS, saucy (13.10) and trusty (14.04) and
Arch
You can’t boot directly into Crouton and !!!importand!!! remember to
not hit the space bar Use Ctrl-D. Hitting the space bar at the scary
boot screen will wipe your Crouton install

Gotchas

Chrome OS recovery will re-partition the SSD back to factory defaults
so keep your files on an external SD card or USB drive!
There is no workaround for the boot followed by Ctrl-D
Some Chrome OS keystrokes don’t work in the Crouton tab e.g. Minimize
Alt+Minus
Crouton is not and cannot be as secure as Chrome OS in verified mode

Crouton vs ChrUbuntu

Crouton runs with Chrome BIOS. Some Chrome Devices don’t support legacy
booting
ChrUbuntu requires: Some disassembly required to remove write protect
screw
Re-flashing your BIOS is not for the faint of heart
You can brick your Chrome device
    Google ‘chromebook john lewis’
You can run ChrUbuntu entirely from a USB drive or SD but it’s slow but
so is Crouton on these storage media
But you have to reboot to switch between vs Alt-Tab in Crouton
ChrUbuntu is said to have all the device drivers. You need to check
for your Chrome Device. Check the version of ChrUbuntu available for
your Chrome Device
My source report no swap so if you run out of RAM expect a crash!
