[WLUG] dmidecode dark corner was: Memory to test

 As a rule machines that take DDR3 memory will accept 8GB DIMMs if they're 3rd-gen Intel Core series or newer and 4GB DIMMs prior to that, regardless of manufacturer documentation. What is the field that shows this value named?  I have some 
machines around that I'd love to be able to stuff more ram 
into
